What does PC Connection do?
Simply put, we supply technology products and solutions to a wide range of customers, from individual consumers to Fortune 500 businesses. We sell primarily through our sales force, catalogs, and Web sites, and offer overnight delivery of more than 100,000 IT products from leading manufacturers, including Apple, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Cisco, Toshiba, Sony, Adobe, APC, and Lexmark. In recent years, our biggest growth area has been our staff of over 400 account managers. They work with business customers of all types to provide IT solutions and value-added services from computing and networking to high-end data storage.

Where would I work?
We started as a small company in New Hampshire, and our corporate headquarters are located in Merrimack, in the state's fastest-growing southern tier. PC Connection has sales and support offices in Merrimack, Dover, and Keene and another sales office in Marlborough, Mass., just outside Boston. GovConnection has sales and support offices in Merrimack, Rockville, Md., and Fairfield, Conn. MoreDirect is headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla., and currently manages its hiring online at http://www.moredirect.com/. We also have a state-of-the-art configuration and distribution facility in Wilmington, Ohio, on the Airborne Express tarmac to enable next-day delivery service.
How much can I earn at PC Connection?
Our philosophy has always been to pay competitively in our marketplace and our geography. In non-sales positions, your pay will be based on the latest compensation data. In sales roles, your total annual earnings are really up to you. The earnings of account managers and others in our sales operations depend heavily on results. Not everyone works at the same pace, but over time, you'll have the opportunity to build up an account list that could boost your earnings significantly. We offer a professional sales environment where you'll be surrounded by a mix of new and experienced colleagues, so the opportunities to learn are limitless. We can't guarantee success. But we'll give you the tools, the knowledge, and the best products and support in the business. The rest is up to you!
Aren't you just one of those big technology corporations?
Not exactly. We started very small in 1982, with just $8,000 and one magazine ad. Our goal was (and still is) to not only sell computer products, but be a trusted resource to help our customers use them effectively. From our base in rural New Hampshire, we used toll-free phone lines, catalogs, and overnight delivery to build a loyal following throughout the nation. Along the way, we pioneered everything from using Caller ID to track customers (to speed up phone orders) to overnight configuration of special-ordered custom systems. (We're still the only company that offers this!)
Success followed, as did rapid growth. Our revenues have topped $1 billion since 1999. Today, we have about 1,600 employees and are on the Fortune 1000 list of the nation's largest companies. But success hasn't gone to our heads. We haven't lost touch with the core values of customer care that fueled the growth in the first place. We recognize that our future will continue to depend upon account managers and customer care professionals interacting with customers on an individual level, as people. What drives us is the knowledge that the products and services we provide really do make a difference, and that our work genuinely helps customers do more.
What's the deal with the raccoon?
We adopted our mascot early on, when we were headquartered in a converted Victorian inn in the rural town of Marlow, New Hampshire (population 600). Like us, this amiable mammal was thrifty, clever, adaptable, and willing to work all night. He's represented us ever since in print ads, company paperwork, our annual report, in the pages of our catalogs, and now on the Web.
Do you hire many new grads?
Yes. Our staff includes alumni from more than 400 schools, and we've actively recruited at more than 100 colleges across the nation. While we're proud of our experienced employees, we're always on the lookout for the most promising new grads. One of them might be you.
During the current academic year, we'll visit a limited number of schools. In lieu of on-campus interviewing, we've asked that positions be posted at the Career Services Center at most schools and that students contact us directly. Some schools prefer resume books. Either way, we encourage college students to apply.
