The Smart-UPS features a 16-segment LED display, extended range automatic voltage regulation (AVR) and pure sine wave output on battery. Additional manageability options are available through the Smart-Slot interface, which is an internal slot for the installation of optional accessory cards. The extended run Smart-UPS X has the capability to add optional external battery packs to scale runtime from minutes to hours typically needed for converged voice and data networks.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Patrick I just typed in several paragraphs about the unit, and as I was finishing a pop-up appeared to warn me that I was taking too long. It then cleared all of my text. So, rather than try to type it all in once more, I'll just say that I've had problems with this unit. I do not know if it is the individual unit that I have or something systemic. I will be calling Tech Support to try to determine how to stop the unit from failing unexpectedly. Also, why the machine sometimes starts to "click" while in operation. August 14, 2011

I am very happy with my purchase. It has all the features I need(and more). I get plenty of runtime from the battery, and I enjoy that it runs at high efficiency when power is stable. It currently protects a server but with PFC power supplies now apperaring in more computers, a unit such as this that provides a pure sine wave output is a requirement. I do wish however that APC would update their documentation for this product as it is incorrect in that it currently states that you can turn off the display which is no longer correct with the newer units.
