I've had this printer for at least two years. It makes excellent b&w prints. Works great with professional papers such as the exhibition fiber and luster. I use it fairly regularly (usually once a week). Never had any problems with it. Only shortcoming is switching from the photo black to matte black. Some what time consuming.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Cyn pretty good printer, a few problems
I have used this printer for a year now, so I know it quite well. It makes beautiful prints on a variety of medium. I also like being able to print on a roll of canvas or photo paper, and having the option of matte or glossy paper.
But it is a bugger to use sometimes. Getting the proper size print off of a roll can be a real challenge--it often comes out 13" long (which would be the width you wanted) instead of the length you want it to be. In fact, printing any unusual size on ANY paper can be very difficult, and I have wasted a lot of paper and ink trying to get it right. There are SO MANY settings to check and numbers to get right, and you have to get to the right box too. And even when you have every box checked and every setting set, it can still come out wrong! Whew, it can be a real pain.
And getting the printer to recognize that you have switched from a matte to a photo black cartridge, well, talk about frustrating. I just did it, and had to attempt to make my print 3 times before it gave me a message that a different ink is installed and it needs a different setting. 15 minutes wasted.
Then there is the issue of thick paper. Sometimes it will not accept a heavy paper such as watercolor paper, and it tells me to put it in the hand feeder. But when I do that, it doesn't accept it either. So I got thru the steps again and again and again and again till it finally accepts it one way or another.
So, I guess I would not say definitely don't buy this printer, but be prepared for some frustration. I have no idea if it would be any better with a different Epson printer, because I've never owner any other, but I'm tempted to switch brands next time I get one.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by junglej Excellent results from sporadic use - photos only
I've used this printer for more than 3 years. I'm an occasional photo printer - sometimes more than a month between printing sessions. I keep the printer plugged in all the time and perhaps that helps keep it from clogging between uses. I never have paper handling issues - even from slightly curled 4X6's - and never from paper up to full width, some of which I cut myself from big sheets. Color rendition and brightness is excellent - once I figured out how to set up printing out of Lightroom - I did get my share of dull and dark prints - but always get good prints now.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by JL9 Great Prints, Easy to Use
I've had this printer for 3 years and have had no issues whatsoever. I download profiles as well as create my own and the colors are as they should be. I also pre-coat my own papers and still no issues with the colors or my paper feeding through properly. I haven't tried printing on canvas, but that's going to be tricky no matter what prosumer printer is being used. Best to have it on a roll than a single feed. But it can be done if you know what you're doing. I don't know why anyone would use the 2880 to print documents because that's like driving a luxury sedan on a dirt road. It's a photo printer, wasn't intended to print documents.. The only two things I would change is an automatic switch from photo black to matte and vice-versa, and have higher capacity ink cartridges.
