While I understand the desire to keep costs down by not including a users manual, I personally think that Epson missed the boat by not providing a users manual in .pdf form.
I spent some time and wasted some paper to create what is missing, a complete users manual in .pdf form.
The installation process was fairly easy. The installation instructions are far from complete, and the process will probably be somewhat frustrating for persons without much experience with HW/SW installations.
As there were no instructions included relating to opening the unit, figuring out how to open a couple of panels to remove the orange packing tape took longer than expected.

Great from start to finish. Installed without a hitch and does a great job scanning in duplex or single side mode into Adobe Acrobat. I ran several 30-40 page docs through with no jams, good speed, and fine clarity. Another bonus is the size. With the intake door and output tray closed it leaves a very small footprint on the desk.

I searched hi and low and reviewed other fast scanners. Just before purchasing another brand scanner, I was able to test drive the GT-80. This scanner is every bit of a Workforce as the name implies. Fast, accurate and dependable. Have scanned about 8 boxes of paperwork, old tax files, financial archives, etc. Not one jam. I can also turn off, unplug from my Mac and then plug it into my PC and it does not skip a beat. See if that other scanner can do that. No!
