Small Businesses will appreciate the DNS-1100-04 NAS file server which takes advantage of the accelerated performance of the dual-core CPU. Providing up to 7200 MIPS of computing power and 512MB of cache memory, the DNS-1100-04 is able to provide the storage throughput required for your business and its future growth. Virtual Disk Drive (VDD) expansion allows the ShareCenter Pro 1100 to attach up to eight external iSCSI storage targets found on the local network, and use them as virtual disks for additional storage volumes.
The DNS-1100-04 offers several backup options which allow administrators and users to control how, when and where their data is stored. Share files across the network or over the Internet via FTP or access them via the easy-to-use Web File Manager which provides password authenticated access to files stored on the NAS. Plus, with iSCSI offering fast access performance thanks to block-level data transfer, the iSCSI targets appear as a local drive on a client PC or host server. Operations such as configuration, provisioning, and backup can be handled by the administrator in the same way they would be for direct-attached storage (DAS). By utilizing existing Ethernet technology, the cost associated with separate host bus adapters and the per-Gigabyte cost for storage can be significantly reduced when compared versus the Fibre-Channel alternative.
Account management features include the ability to manage users & groups and their Read/Write permissions. Create users, groups, and the iSCSI targets with password authentication. Additionally, VLAN tagging support combined with AES encryption keeps files secure. The DNS-1100-04 implements CHAP authentication to guarantee secure access to the storage system. Also, USB connectivity provides the option to use the DNS-1100-04 as a print server, for UPS monitoring, or to connect USB devices such as hard drives and flash storage. Plus, the DNS-1100-04 features four Serial ATA (SATA) disk drive bays supporting 3TB hard drives in RAID level 0, 1, 5, 6, JBOD or Standard mode configurations. Administrators can quickly deploy a network storage solution using inexpensive SATA disk drives. Additionally, S.M.A.R.T. disk diagnostics help to ensure data integrity by anticipating failures and if necessary moving data to another available drive.
